Official Web Review is an independent consumer publication. We buy products, use them for as long as it takes to form a real opinion, read the science where science exists, sift through hundreds of customer reviews, and then write down what we actually found — including the parts a manufacturer would rather we left out.
Why We Exist
Search for almost any consumer product today and you will find a wall of pages that look like reviews but are really advertisements: no testing, no criticism, no named author, and a buy button every two paragraphs. We started this publication because we were tired of reading them, and because we believed a commercially funded review site could still be honest if it was honest about being commercially funded.
We earn a commission when readers buy through our links. We say so on every page, in the footer, and on a dedicated Disclosure page. No brand pays us for a positive verdict, and no brand sees a word of our copy before it is published.
How We Review
- We use the product. Where a product has a meaningful usage cycle — a supplement with a 12-week protocol, an appliance across a summer — we run it for that period rather than writing after a weekend.
- We read the label, not the landing page. Every active ingredient is checked against published literature. Where the evidence is thin, we say the evidence is thin.
- We look at the checkout. Pre-ticked add-ons, recurring subscriptions buried in the fine print, and misleading “stock running out” timers are documented in our reviews, because they cost readers real money.
- We read the complaints. Verified customer reviews, refund reports, and Better Business Bureau records get as much attention as the five-star testimonials.
- We publish the drawbacks. Every review contains a section on who the product is wrong for. If we cannot write that section honestly, we do not publish the review.
What We Are Not
We are not doctors, and nothing we publish is medical advice. We are not the manufacturer or seller of any product we cover; we hold no inventory and process no payments. We cannot help with your order, your refund, or your subscription — that has to go to the merchant who took your money. And we are not infallible: products get reformulated, merchants change their terms, and our articles can fall out of date. If you find something on this site that is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
Corrections
When we make a factual error, we fix it and we note that we fixed it. We do not quietly edit a page and pretend the original never existed.
