How We Make Money

Official Web Review is a free publication. We do not charge readers, we do not run a subscription, and we do not accept payment from a brand in exchange for a favourable review. Instead, we participate in performance-based marketing programmes. When a reader clicks certain outbound links on this site and completes a purchase on a merchant’s website, the merchant pays us a percentage of that sale or a fixed referral fee.

This arrangement costs you nothing. The price you pay is the same whether you arrive at the merchant through our link or type the address directly into your browser. The commission is paid out of the merchant’s marketing budget.

Which Links Pay Us

Any button, image, or text link that sends you to a merchant’s product page or checkout may be a compensated link. These links carry the rel="nofollow sponsored" attribute, which is the technical standard for signalling a commercial relationship to search engines. Purely informational links — to research papers, regulators, news outlets, or reference material — do not pay us anything.

How Compensation Affects Our Content

We want to be precise here rather than make claims we cannot support.

• It affects what we cover. We generally write about products that have a referral programme, because that is what funds the publication. There are good products we have never reviewed simply because there is no way for us to be paid for covering them.
• It affects placement and order. Products and offers may be positioned prominently on a page.
• It does not affect our conclusions. No merchant reviews, approves, edits, or has any right of veto over our copy before it is published. We publish criticism, drawbacks, and reasons not to buy alongside anything positive we have to say. Where a product underperforms, we say so.

We Are Not the Seller

Official Web Review is an independent publication and is not the manufacturer, distributor, retailer, or agent of any product featured on this site. We do not hold inventory, take orders, process payments, ship goods, or administer refunds. Every purchase is a contract between you and the merchant. Questions about billing, delivery, subscriptions, cancellations, or guarantees must be directed to that merchant.

Customer quotes on this site are drawn from publicly posted reviews and may be condensed or paraphrased for length and clarity. Any results described are individual experiences and are not typical, promised, or guaranteed. Photographs of people are frequently stock imagery of models rather than actual customers, unless a caption explicitly states otherwise. Statistics attributed to a manufacturer are the manufacturer’s own figures and have not been independently verified by us.
